Registry Exam

Calling all Diagnosticians!!  The registry exam will be administered April 19, 2012 in Dallas at the Westin-Park Central Hotel.  Those who are interested in becoming a Registered Professional Educational Diagnostician should draw near and read carefully.  You should contact Deb Hawkins, soon, at debhawk1995@live.com (or write to PO Box 53661, Lubbock, TX 79543). for an application packet.   All application information must be completed and returned to Deb Hawkins by January 15, 2012.  The TPED Board will review the applicant information at our January 2012 for acceptance to take the exam in April.  Apply now to start the process to becoming a member of an elite “excellent” organization.

Texas Professional Educational Diagnosticians Application and Exam

 

To become registered, an Educational Diagnostician must submit an application to the Board of Registry and demonstrate professional competencies through a formal examination.

The deadline for submission of an application to take the exam is January 15 of each year.
The next formal exam will take place on April 19, 2012 at the WESTIN PARK CENTRAL, DALLAS, TX.

FAQs

 

What is the difference between the EXCET and the Board of Registry exam?

The EXCET tests what you've learned in school and establishes minimum competency. The Registry exam tests the application and practice of what has been learned. It is a level of excellence above that of the EXCET.

How hard is the exam?

The exam is fair and thorough. It draws on experience and its scope includes all areas.

Why is there a requirement to have two years of experience as a diagnostician?

  1. Knowledge of disabilities, state law and federal regulations pertaining to special education
  2. Understanding learning environments
  3. Administering evaluations and interpreting evaluation information
  4. Interpreting evaluation information and effects of disabilities on learning and development
  5. Understanding curriculum and instruction for learners with special needs
  6. Using evaluation information to make recommendations for development of IEP's
  7. Knowledge of human growth and development and identification of processing deficits and learning styles
  8. Knowledge of learning theory
  9. Knowledge of behavior intervention and classroom management techniques
  10. Communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, teachers and other professionals
  11. Ability to analyze a case study
